There's a special feeling you get when walking out to the field for the first time each summer...

This is at Red Sox spring training in Ft. Meyers, Florida.

We don't really have baseball in England (certainly not on the same scale atleast) so thanks!

Am I right in thinking baseball games go on for ages? In which case - what's it like? Do you sort of tune in and out and amuse yourself in the mean time - or are you always watching?

Baseball is probably the most boring sport in the world, but I still love it.

hey Barney... the hubs is a huge Astros fan so when we go, i'll tune in and out and look up when the cheering starts. Andrew is correct in saying, "most boring sport in the world".
  • Buck Flashroy 3 years ago
I imagine watching it is probably quite a similar experience to watching cricket.

It's fun to go to games. On TV is the worst.

    I agree with ed completely.

You must not think golf is a sport then, Andrew.

Someday... 7 games, 7 cities, 7 days. That would be so fun!

I didn't know you were that big of a baseball nerd Andrew. Do you go down to Florida every year for spring training?

I bet you absolutely love the movie Fever Pitch.
  • Andrew Pile staff 3 years ago
I've been down twice now, I'll probably go next year as well.

Let's just say Fever Pitch isn't my favorite movie in the world.

I predict my team, the Washington Nationals, will lose 120 games this year.

I can't wait for opening day on 4/2. I always blow off work and go.

To imagine how boring an actual baseball season is, watch this video 346,000 times in a row.

Baseball is almost as boring as Cricket! Now that would be a great video, Baseball Vs. Cricket the documentary get your copy today. This 48 Disc DVD set outlines one whole average game from both cricket and baseball and discusses their similarities. Hurry Supplies are limited. In fact we ran out of resources after we printed the first copy so hurry, before it gets sold.

hmm andrew, you should visit Yankee Stadium, they have this really successful team called the Yankees that play there. You can find them above the Red Sox in the standings. Always.

Good times is a great tag.

I grew up loving baseball - big Mets / Dwight Gooden fan (even though I grew up in San Diego). Now, I cant watch 5 seconds of baseball, and am a huge NBA fan. My best friend was born in Boston and was a die-hard Sox fan, just like everyone else in Boston.

I live right by Ft. Myers. Its season right now which means all the northerners have come down for the winter to stay warm. We call them snowbirds. Traffic is awful. And there are old people everywhere. You can get a sense of that from the video.

thats interesting, the announcer at spring training is the same announcer for fenway, Karl Beane.

he is a strange little man with a terribly dirty mouth.
