The above video is my submission for KIB103 Assessment Three - an advertisement of the mobile phone brand, Nokia.
The brief for this advertisement asked for me to produce a 30-60 second commercial in which the amazing technology of Nokia was explored. For my ad, I explored the amazing technology of Nokia's GPS system - MAPS.
This commercial basically features a girl and a boy using MAPS to locate each other and meet up to hang out or what not.
I have used the technique of shooting these two people from different angles to clearly show that they are different people in different locations. The girl, Isabel, is on the left side of the screen and always travels from left to right. This is demonstrated by her body and the phone facing from left to right in the first shot, as well as her walking from left to right towards the door. The shot from just outside her car window shows her travelling from left to right. The same goes for the boy, Craig, who is always going from right to left. This was used to affectively show that the GPS was bringing the two people together - 'Nokia Connecting People'.
A downfall to my commercial is the fact that the recent weather with all the rain caused half of my footage to be in the rain and the other half in the sunshine. I had to reshoot most of my footage - hence the reason why maybe their faces don't look as excited about the technology as they should because they had to repeat everything a dozen times.
Another downfall I had was the MAPS application on the screen of the phone kept disappearing because the screen kept going black without myself noticing. The viewer may not clearly understand the ad is for GPS, as I also couldn’t find a logo for the MAPS application that would be suitable to use.
I think during this assessment I have used a more variety of shots and working with the focus a bit more as well as experimenting with angles - one including literally hanging the tripod out of the car in order to get the perfect shot of Isabel driving.
