Here's a song from the Royal Wylds about time and music.

I went to their gig at Mercury Lounge in NYC to shoot a different song, but they wanted $250 to shoot video in the club (non negotiable), so I says, "What about stills?"
and they says, "Stills? no problem."
So why not shoot the video with stills? I thought.
I had the time lapse from a Brooklyn gig sitting around anyways and it's like two hour long sets boiled down to two minutes and five seconds.
adversity can be the mother of invention.

    Since i've seen so many videos of bands playing which all end up fairly dull (with some exceptions)... It became an opportunity to use my cristmas light effect from the holidays.

    Yea, live show videos tend to blend together. This is actually more what it really feels like than the rest.

    That's cool Alex, that policy of of charging to shoot and in some cases record by clubs is so odd, maybe it does some weeding out so they do not get a boatload of folks come and attempt to do video. A good recording or video is great publicity for especially the band but for the club as well.
    We went to do a multi track recording of a group with the band's full cooperation @ a nameless, well known club,,, GLITCH: the club wanted 500 bucks just to record @ their venue, we informed the band , we all said N E V E R the band said forget recording @ that club.

    I sort of understood their point. What's in it for them? They have to keep the club going with overhead and that has proven to be difficult in Manhattan ... plus you are sort of trying to use their "credibility" to some extent... or atleast it fucntions as a set... still, it was a pain and I hadn't come up against if before (a ban on all cameras sure, but never a fee to shoot).

    Have you let the band see this (maybe emailed them a link or something)? Or do you think they might demand the $250?

    Yeah they're seein it.... we were in cohoots, so they would have had to pay the two fifty.

    i remember when that club was nothing lol came out cool anyway- not much you can fuck up & you made the best of the situation.

    I have some of their old one someplace
    and a bunch of burns around. They are in the studio a lot lately... with new line up (drums and guitars from an old group called the Nails... 88 lines about 44 women was their big hit).
