From Partizan director Gianluca Fallone

Here is American Software, a short film inspired by the towering giants behind the American software industry. That is, if Steve Jobs was a rebellious punk rectangle, with guitar in tow, taking on King Bill through a rock-off within some parallel counter-realist 8-bit geometric vision of our world.

The Sony spot is already 3 years old! Ouch.

Sony spot is child's play compared to this.
  • Neoganeto 1 year ago
Well, i really liked the astetics of the sony-spot back then, as i'm liking this video - a LOT! I think both did a great job. but one has to admit that the visual parallels are more than subtle.

Well that came out as a shock, so much work and someone did a similar thing before.

To be honest, someone mentioned me a sony ad during the early stages of american software, I couldn't find the video so I just kept doing my thing.

Respects to Santa Maria for an amazing job.

Don't worry about the comparisons to the sony ad. The craft and style with which you did this vid was superior. Great job!

This is great work, but i'm sorry i just don't believe it's a coincidence. Same character, same multi color cube, the guitar, the "monster"...

There is no harm in inspiring yourself with other work, you just have to make it your own, with your style. Or just to practice. But claiming it's original work, well, i don't buy it. Sorry.

    Word.
Some scenes are EXACTLY the same. Sorry but this is too similar for a simple "coincidence"...

Classic example of when the reference becomes the actual piece.
  • morgan james 1 year ago
Agreed. "Coincidence" is a silly word to link the two animations.

You manage to make this your own story, and add to the style of the Sony spot, turning it into a video game reference more than a 70's visual design reference, so that's cool with me, and the whole thing definitely rocks!

The grainy home-video catches me as a sort of a stale, cheesy idea and Pokémon really isn't an American piece of Software, but the whole thing is adorably cute. Rock on!
