WOW! There has never been a time I sat through a whole 10 min clip of anyones. Yours was worth every second. You are gifted!
Ever heard of a guitar player named Willy Porter - you sound like him "or the voice in your clip" also he's rather deep in the same sort of way. He does his art with music- just like you use a camera. Never stop!

I appreciate your patience!!! Thanks for the kind words. I haven't heard of Willy Porter I don't think... but I'm about too.

This is the most wonderful piece I've come across with. I feel related, identified, involved, moved and touched. I wish I could express with words how deeply this video has touched me. It's an authentic work of art. Brilliant.

this gives me chills. i can totally totally totally totally relate.

    wowzers.
    haven of the north eh?

  • Blake Whitman staff 1 year ago
i'm sure you can... yeah, North Haven :)
  • Emily Qualey 1 year ago
i spent about a year living on north haven when i was five or six. one day i got off the bus and got on the ferry all by myself because i thought my mom was on the boat (and i saw her car).

we headed toward rocko and come to find out she wasn't on the boat and the ferry had to turn around and bring me back. it was traumatic.

i could never forget that ferry dock.
  • Blake Whitman staff 1 year ago
sounds traumatic... kids can be so bold sometimes!!

well i'm sorry to say that memory is the only thing left of that ferry dock. they made a new one about 12 years ago to handle the larger ferries. But I still have vivid memories of that ferry dock :) Have you been back lately?
  • Emily Qualey 1 year ago
it's been a couple years. but i have an aunt that lives on vinalhaven/green's... so i've been nearby.

Simply beautiful. Some really great shots and words too. I like the rock sculptures.

Nice, this reminded me of the film Rivers and Tides.
  • Blake Whitman staff 10 months ago
    very much inspired by.

It also reminds me of that movie Neverwas, with Aaron Eckhart. Not a great movie but similar in sentiment.

I walk along the shoreline, carefully making my way on the uneven rocky surface. A loon calls across the rippled water. The sun is setting in a golden wreath of clouds. I ponder the image as my cares melt away.

Wow! So calm and beautiful! As I'm writing this, I've been just sitting here for about 10 minutes after the video ended, thinking about places of my childhood. Amazing work.
  • Blake Whitman staff 6 months ago
thank you for the kind words.

    What did you remember?
  • Attila Malarik 6 months ago
I grew up in a small village in Hungary, with lots of forests around. There are many memories in those forests, and the village itself. Now i'm in a different country and with different people around me. Haven't been there for a long time, but I want to go back, and your video reminded me of it. Quite powerful.

Oh and this video deserves a HD treatment if possible! :)

What serene and beautiful places. Your words on childhood, memory, freedom and imagination struck a chord. At 07:00 the two dinghies made me think "Swallows and Amazons" - memories of a children's book which hinges on imagination, freedom, seafare and independence. Thank you for this video.

Blake this is great! I love your voice. It brought me back to the summer I spent there with your family. It makes one reflect on their life, how they have grown and things they want to change and things they can NEVER change. Thanks Kim

Most cuts are less than ten seconds but it does not choppy at all. It does feel sad though, like something was lost at Haven, or in between Havens. Amongst all the tranquility, there is something a little menacing about what is not being said. I look forward to a horror sequel ;-)
