Next time I go out there I'm hoping to get some more stuff with the guns using the 80-200mm Nikon zoom that I have now. Its a very cool lens and at 120fps 2K it would be like a 400mm lens, great for close ups of explosions.

The Nikon glass is really sharp and creates some awesome images. Plus its about the 1/10 of the cost of a PL mount cinema lens. The high end PL mount lenses do create some amazingly sharp images as well.

    holy fuck...

the first shot reminded me of the dark night...

these nikons are standard 35mm photography lenses right?
  • 599 Productions 1 year ago
Just regular kickass still photography lenses. "Bourne Ultimatum" used re-housed Nikon lenses to shoot most of that movie.

Absolutely beautiful images, can't take my eyes off them. Can't seem to take my ears off the music too, what is it please?

Nice piece, I think the monotone Glassian-style track works best for timelapse, compared to the tracks in the other pieces which seem to suggest some sort of event is going to happen, which doesn't arrive.

The Nikon glass is best at around f5.6, f8. I really don't feel they compare that well with top end cinema primes, which at the expense of a whole lot more expense are excellent from around f2.3 on up. The 35 f2 definitely needs to be no more open than f4+, the 20 and 85 are decent but not super wide open. Have you noticed any color fringing on the Red sensor with the 20 or 35?
  • 599 Productions 1 year ago
I haven't noticed any color "fringing" using those lenses.

this is fantastic- I'm so jazzed about the red series of cameras- do you have any footage of the red one in 180fps burst mode- is their any loss in image quality in this mode?
  • 599 Productions 1 year ago
That's Scarlet that is suppose to do 180fps burst. I have a couple of clips at 120fps posted on here. At 120fps your shooting at 2K, which isn't as sharp as 4K but it still looks good.

Absolutely hypnotic. I love the score to Solaris.
  • 599 Productions 1 year ago
Yeah it does fit quite nicely. Its also one of my favorite scores.

Damn, nice shoot mate! i hope my new EX1 and Letus can match stuff like this

The equipment helps a lot. But in the end its all about the one who took the shot. All my timelapse before I got my RED camera was shot on a Canon 20D, which is a digital still camera. Those shots turned out very good as well. I still use my now Canon 40D to do all my night timelapse.
