Although I mention in the video start up cost for an ableton live setup is about $2,000, it's also possible to get started with much less money. If you already have a laptop, you can spend $120 dollars on an Oxygen 8 from M-audio; it comes with Live Lite, which doesn't have all the features you need, but it kicks butt. The strength of your computer will determine the complexity of what you can do (as well as you level of skill :-) Thanks to Hidden Driveways who brought this realization to my attention. I say go for it! There also places where you can buy click tracks all made up in Ableton, and people like me you can commission to create a Click Track for a specific song or two.
Bands like Coldplay, David Crowder, and Incubus can be almost impossible to cover accurately without a click track. Hopefully this will get you one step closer to getting there.
