This episode of Off-Leash Public Affairs (OLPA) features the people of Santa Barbara celebrating the California Supreme Court ruling, on 15 May 2008, which affirmed the legal right for same-gender couples to marry. Locals held a spontaneous rally the same day at the County Courthouse, but overshadowing the joyous mood was an upcoming State ballot initiative (Proposition 8-2008 during the Nov. 2008 election) that would mess with the Constitution again by eliminating this civil right affirmed by the Court 6 months earlier.
When this right to marriage went in effect in mid June 2008, the video covers some ceremonies held at Santa Barbara Courthouse and includes interviews with local clergy.
