A moving documentary that describes the Breath of Life program in Vietnam. Breath of Life (BOL) is a program addressing the critical issue of infant mortality in Vietnam and Southeast Asia and is run by the East Meets West Foundation, one of Vietnam's largest and most reputable nongovernmental, nonprofit, international development organizations.
BOL provides locally-manufactured neonatal equipment to hospitals and community medical clinics that treat the most common newborn complications such as respiratory distress and jaundice. BOL trains all staff in the use and maintenance of equipment and warranties all parts and services for 3 years. The program is now operating in 95% of Vietnam's provinces and has expanded to Cambodia, Laos and East Timor. Over 45,000 babies a year are treated by medical equipment donated by the BOL program, which is supported by EMW's donors.
