If the audio skips, you might need to let the video buffer. If it still skips, turn off HD. If it still skips, you need a faster computer. :-)

Technical notes: I wanted to see if 60i would look good. I'm not sure I want to do that again. I have gotten used to 30p. To me, 60i to 24p looks blurry. However, 30p to 24p looks worse still. I don't like the 24p mode in the HV30, it does a strange form of capture onto the DV tape.
I'm hoping the the Canon HG21 will capture true 24p onto its hard drive. Along with the HF11 camcorder, the HG21 records in AVCHD and reaches a peek recording rate of 24Mbps! This should be better than HDV; the AVCHD format uses a stronger compression method than HDV using the MP4 format. AVCHD does have a tendency to grind your computer processors into the ground - make sure you have a strong computer for any editing. If I was going to buy a new camcorder today, for personal use, it might be one of these two cameras. We will see what the real world reviews tell us.
But, make no mistake about it, I love the HV30 and it's nice having a tape to store.
As a side note, I wish Vimeo had a 30p mode. Maybe in the future as computers and peoples link to the Internet gets faster?
