This is production footage I shot over the summer for my debut film, "TimeScapes," a modern portrait of the American Southwest. I used Canon and Red MX cameras.

Film's website: timescapes.org

Follow the production at: twitter.com/timescapes and Facebook: facebook.com/TimeScapes

A huge thank you to my assistants who helped me film this, Dustin Kukuk (twitter.com/drkanab), Nilo Recalde (twitter.com/nilomr) and Chris M (twitter.com/visceralway). And, as always, my most sincere and humble respect goes to Ron Fricke, Mark Magidson, Terrence Malick and Godfrey Reggio.

Thank you to my sponsors: Kessler Crane, camBLOCK Canon USA, Vinten, KATA & Cinevate.

Music is by the film's composer Nigel "John" Stanford: johnstanfordmusic.com Make sure to turn the volume and bass way up!

Beyond breathtaking, loved the stuff with the RED, gotta get me one of those!!

But no matter what camera you used the most important part is you. Your patience and skills are un-matched by anyone on this planet. When I grow up I want to be you!!!

Tom, I have a question your work is so amazing i don't have words to describe, how do you stars in day light? or is that night?
  • Tom Lowe pro 1 year ago
Mansoor, those are actually night shots lit by the moon. :)

Stellar and powerful Toml! "I've seen another world." - Caviezel from the The Thin Red Line.
This film will re-awaken and re-ignite our love affair for this world and a mans imagination to actually capture it.

Chris, thanks so much for all your help on this film. I know it was tough during some of those rough patches with the RV breaking down, howling winds, roasting temperatures, etc. But man... that bear shot we got is possibly my favorite in this whole reel! I get chills looking at his expression.

Wow! This is a masterpiece, Tom!! Loved every second of it! What an amazing journey it has been these past couple of months on the road! So many EPIC nights of filming at Arches, Anasazi Canyon, ABQ Balloon Fiesta, and the Holy Land! Thank you for bringing me along for the ride, and for how much fun we've had in the process! I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world! =]

It goes without saying that besides me, you are the person most responsible for this film, Dustin. It's been an amazing journey so far, and we are just getting warmed up! We've had more epic, jaw-dropping nights under the banner of the Milky Way and stars than people can begin to imagine. They have no idea what this journey has been....

A bunch of guys, alone, in the night... yeah I'm in too! OK, that was a terrible joke, sorry ;)

I'm sure it was a great journey, and even though the images are breathtaking, they must be nothing compared to the actual things Tom and crew seen during the filming. There are some things you have to witness by yourself, no film, picture, painting will give you that. Congrats!

    Tom,

looks amazing to watch 1080p on full screen at HP Dreamcolor wide gamut color 30 bit LCD.

Also I transfered "Rapture" trailer to iPad.

    homepage.mac.com/sanjinjukic/RED/rapture_ipad_01.jpg

"Rapture" on iPad: Shot on Canon 7D with Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 zoom.

    Looks fantastic.

Your newest trailer already shows a nice story or a certain narrative structure that I am expecting from your movie.

Those beautiful dancing girls (shot on R1-MX) and moving night sky (shot on Canon 5DMK2) makes me "hungry" to go there right away.

    Looking forward to order Blu-Ray.

    Regards,

    Sanjin
