This is an excerpt from the documentary The Candidate.

Angered by Salford MP Hazel Blears' involvement in the MPs' expenses scandal, local youth worker David Henry is compelled to stand in the 2010 British General Election under the banner "Hazel Must Go". Promises of change and renewal are nothing new to the people of Salford, but can David inspire them to secure an unlikely victory?

The Candidate makes creative use of 40-year-old archive footage of Salford. Unfortunately we can't get clearance for blanket internet use of these sequences, which is why there is only an excerpt of the film here.

The film was selected for Exposures 2010 and is nominated in the RTS North West Awards 2010.
