"Courage is both extraordinary and infinitely common, behind every door and window."

A handful of emerging filmmakers were handed a camera phone and asked to shoot a film exploring the theme of Courage for the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival TalentLab. Population 6 Billion is the film Sean Carley wrote, directed and edited, shot entirely on a Motorola Z6m cell phone with a budget of beer.

The film explores the notion that courage is usually not a newsworthy act of bravery, but rather how each of us chooses to face life every day.

Original music composed and performed by Adrian Ellis ( adrianelliscomposer.com ).

Cast: Tracey Beltrano, Kevin Carroll, Steve and Allan Deonarine, Stephanie Delaurier, Cathie Dimitriou.

This is great! You should really submit it to the Disposable Film Festival!

Another great example of when you have the talent, don“t need super hi-tech camera or big budget.
    Love the lighting.
    Cheers Sean.

Wow! Credit to you and Adrian Ellis. That was fantastic.
I loved the somewhat surreal feel that the low-res cameraphone gave it.

Thank you! I agree, the camera phone actually has a quality I sort of love. I've even seen it screened at two festivals on a big screen, and it still looks pretty and surreal. Thank you so much for the compliment.

Adrian Ellis deserves huge kudos, because he's a major talent. Everyone adores his music. I was lucky he agreed to work on this film.

    Thanks again for commenting!

Great short film. I loved the music. Where to obtain a copy?

Thanks sham fox. I'll post the composer's website here. I told him he should do a whole CD of that style of music, because people keep asking about it. It's all original, and he performs and records the instruments himself. I'm not sure if he's selling any CDs or not. But like I said, I'll post his website address for inquiries.

I have to say this is one of the most inspiring things I've seen since I took an interest in film. You managed to take advantage of the image quality and turn it into an artistic element. Not because it had that low res look, but more how it worked in different lighting situations. It gave the shots the feel that they required. Thank you for posting this.
