    Halló Alastair.

I am very sorry that I am so difficult to cross, even for brave and photogenic men like you and Christopher. But to make it up for you I put your video on my Vimeo, where many of my friends will see it:

Excellent trip and footage guys. Really enjoyed. How do you manage to see a waterfall coming?
  • Alastair Humphreys 1 year ago
You see a horizon - a straight line across the river in front of you. That's a sign that there's a big drop! Also with the big ones you can hear it...

I've said this on Chris's film and I'll say it here... respect for the film and crossing. I would've gladly picked you up if you were hitch-hiking :) Though perhaps I was there a few weeks earlier.

5D magic, love the depth in the video. The timelapses were amazing. Seems like a great place to get lost with the camera. Iceland is on my list. Must have been cold falling into that water.

thanks for sharing, phantastic video, brilliant images, inmersive writeup.

Q: which solar panels did you use to recharge your camera batteries / how was the "charging strategy" - mounted it to your pack while hiking and charge buffer batteries ? - thks 4 sharing info on that.
  • Alastair Humphreys 1 year ago
    Hi,
I hope this picture shows you the type of panel we used: flickr.com/photos/alastairhumphreys/4949590402/
And this will show you how we used it:

many thanks for the info alastair, did they work well = were you able to recharge your cameras even in dim light conditions ?

    Thanks again

    Paul

They were "ok" - a bright day for a whole day sort of charged one battery. Dim light didn't work too well...

Great movie and even greater expedition. No guts, no glory, indeed!

I'm only missing basic map of Iceland with your route marked on it. It could be shown as last picture of the movie.
  • Alastair Humphreys 11 months ago
I deliberately don't put maps in any of my expedition stuff- I like to leave things to the imagination.

Wow, very beautiful country! I am going to have to make it to Iceland at least once to absorb the scenery! Such a large amount of wildly different geography! I envy your trek, this is a place I must hike! Very very nice video.
