    hey JK,
Did you do anything to the speed or frame rate?
  • Jason Kottke 1 year ago
Nope, that's just the way it came out of the camera. The Zi-6 has a 60 frames/sec setting...I'd like to play around with it soon.

Too bad you didn't ask & post the names of the dancers and the musicians - they deserve their 15, actually 40, seconds worth of fame, too!

It's nicely framed, with the action taking place off-center, but the entire sequence also shows the limits of one-man filming in public spaces: you'd really need a brace of off-camera bouncers to steer away Walking Human Lumps[tm], like that gent around 33 sec's point, and a third body, could be assistant and/or producer, to watch/ protect your back!

Kodak Zi-6 again? Seems less shakier then the last. Just steadier hands?
  • Jason Kottke 1 year ago
    Yep, Zi-6 again...with steadier hands, I guess.

I used to think partner dancing was a great way to meet girls. It took me a while to figure out all they really wanted to do was dance.

Those guys are part of a rotating group of musicians called Loose Marbles. Very awesome. I'm pretty sure some of them play with The Baby Soda Jazz Band as well. They're from NOLA I believe.

Here's a video I shot of them from a different angle in the same place last year:

This is really how life should be. We should all know how to dance, there should be street musicians and we should all know the same choreographed song and dance numbers. Emotions could be shared and conveyed by groups of people, life imitating a musical. That's just my opinion.

Fun vid, but there is always someone that can't shut their mouth and just enjoy the moment.
