Cinevate's Atlas 10 LTS - Video and DSLR Slider
1 year ago
Since introducing the extremely popular Atlas 30 and Atlas 200 LTS systems, folks have been asking for a center mount version that is just as smooth (well almost) as the Atlas 30 and 200 systems but lighter, faster to setup and less expensive. Introducing Atlas 10.
We're very proud to introduce Atlas 10, a full ball bearing linear tracking system that features the uber-cool all terrain foot system, no less than 7 tripod mount plate locations, micro-adjust non-marking feet, vertical operation and yes, even vertical counter-balanced operation. With a non-reflective, black satin anodized finish, full CNC aluminum/steel construction, and stainless steel fasteners, you can expect a lifetime of reliable operation.
Available at cinevate.com/atlas10
A big thanks to the Alpine Club of Canada acctbay.ca/ and Curtis Jensen of AppleWagon films applewagonfilms.com. The original score for this piece was composed by John Paul De Roover jeanpaulderoover.com. We'd also like to send a thank you to Randy Panado colourcraftmedia.com.

Prev week
i like the technique of the vertical moves with a counter balance. nice idea
After I added up some extras, the total came to $1,246.00
So for the $499, I guess it comes basic with the standard legs.
Evan, the counterbalance will actually ship with Spectra line (1/4 the width and a lot stronger). The reason you don't see it in the catalog is that we're still finalizing pricing for the kit. Another product still to be added is the FLT version which uses lighter rail, and fits in a suitcase. It will weigh in under 6lbs.
Cheers,
Dennis.
Atlas 10 looks really promising, but I'd like to clear something up before ordering.
Will it eventually be possible to upgrade the version actually available on your site with the counterbalance system or are there actually two different products - one without the counterbalance system and another with it?
Thank you.
Thanks Dennis!
I see why you did it, but instead start the price off at $499, and give the upgrade option to go up to the 35' for $50 dollars.
I am looking at this Atlas 10 and the Pocket Dolly™ BASIC V2 w/ Hercules 2.0 for $809.95 which can do vertical shots with the shipped crank handle system.
Your Vertical add-on's will push it +1K ;(
Can you win me over with why your product is a better solution. Trust me Dennis, I wanna by Canadian my fellow' Canuck ;)
p.s I also have a question about the handles that screw into a Proteus plate that you used with your cyclops video..will post this to you elsewhere ;)
p.p.s Keep up the good work Innovating on behalf of all us DSLR's #Kudos
If you're planning on panning/tilting with fluid movement during a slide, a Manfrotto 503 head, 701 head etc. would work well. Attache this head to the half ball leveler and you've got about 15 degrees of levelling too.
Vitart, we don't advertise the slider at $350...it's only set up that on our web site to make the various options transparent to our accounting system. Dell does a similar thing when you build up a computer.
Cheers,
Dennis.
One question, will it be possible to attach a small motor for time-lapsing?
1. What do the standard legs look like?
2. Does this product ship from your Thunder Bay office?
1. Standard legs are the 4 ball feet that aren't attached to articulating legs. In the catalog photo these 'standard legs' are actually mounted on the opposite side, pointing up. The legs can micro-collimate for minor adjustments on uneven ground. Expect some clearer pictures in the catalog monday or tuesday at the latest to clarify.
2. Yes, Atlas 10 is only available through our website and thus from our Thunder Bay location, but our resellers are really interested in the Atlas 10 and should be stocking it soon.
Cheers
1. What exactly is the counter balance, how does it look ?
2. Will I be able to use this system as a small jib ?
Also , will you have more photos of the various options available ?
Thank you
I am planning to get a slider soon, and I like what I see in this video. Just want to know if I should wait or get on the preorder wait list for the LTS.
Thanks!
We'll be updating the Atlas 10 in our catalog either tomorrow or Thursday with some photos to help clarify the different options.
As for the Jib-like movements, we've been playing around with different mounting options as well as using the atlas at various angles for movements in both X and Y axis, somewhat Jib-like. I'm actually looking forward to see what people come up with, it's a pretty versatile piece of gear!
- Atlas Rail Length 35 inch (89cm)
- No Counter Balance
- All Terrain Legs
- RC2 Ball Head with Quick-Release
- No Vertical Kit
That adds up to $450 but once I add it to the shopping cart the price doubles. Hubert emails me saying that it is not possible to buy a $450 Atlas 10 since that is the base price only. I find the $450 price misleading/marketing. Why not state the total price for a base Atlas 10 instead of luring me in with the cover charge? Am I missing something.
The setup you are showing in the video with the terrain legs is the setup I want and you stated the price of $550 (which I'm sold on) but again in the shopping cart on your website says $897 ????
"...we're hoping to satisfy a lot of folks by launching the system with a starting tag under $500."
How is it possible to have the starting price tag below 500 when that doesn't get you anything?
Keith, the base price is an issue that is being addressed. It was never 350 and will never be. The convention that makes sense to our accounting system is causing a lot of confusion to our customers. We're changing it. Much like building a Dell computer starts with a base cost, so does Atlas 10...but you need to choose your length and foot options to generate a price. We're working on changing the displayed cost to instead reflect a built up unit. Apologies for the confusion.
Our Atlas FLT system is the most affordable, starting at $579. And you are correct. The 504 is perfect for mounting the Atlas FLT on, but you will still need a solution for on top of the slider. Something small like the Manfrotto 701HDV head or even smaller like the Manfrotto RC-2 head are good solutions, and range from about $79-$140 depending on country. Hope that helps
Just to get an idea, which length was used for the climbing section of this video ?
We just posted a new Atlas 10/Atlas FLT video comparing all the lengths. Check out the blog post here ow.ly/6cU6E
