This is an initial test of an ICE compound I made which approximates point lighting on particle clouds. This is just a simple point cloud being hit with a little turbulence, no geometry.

An animated null provides a "light" position and the compound shades the particles accordingly.

The significant thing about this compound is that it's very fast compared to any other method I've come across. Accuracy in this test is set pretty low.
