The Bureau of Justice Assistance’s National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) invites you to view November’s webinar on civil gang injunctions, as a part of our Second Tuesdays at 2 webinar series. Based on the legal theory of public nuisance, civil gang injunctions are an emerging anti-gang strategy that employs court-issued restraining orders to prohibit gang members from participating in certain activities. This webinar covered: (1) what gang injunctions are and are not; (2) an overview of how to get one; and (3) what to do if you have one. The instructors covered both theory and practical application, as well as “lessons learned.” They also addressed “why” a jurisdiction should consider obtaining a gang injunction. The webinar was presented by Mr. Jim McDougal and Mr. Greg Anderson and is supported by the National District Attorneys Association.
