This celebration opened the inaugural Detroit Windsor International Film Festival on June 26, 2008 at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Over 700 people attended including notable actors, directors and producers from all over the country. It was the world premiere of the film "Unbeatable Harold" which stars Gordon Michaels, Henry Winkler, Dylan McDermott, Nicole DeHuff, Gladys Knight, Taryn Manning, Phyllis Diller, Charles Durning and more. On June 29th this film was awarded "Best Comedy" at the film festival.

The opening night, as well as the successful pre-premiere party held at Mon Jun Lau in Troy on June 25th were sponsored by J. Lauri Filmworks. All of the event footage was captured by cameraman Terry Warde.
