I filmed, edited and took part in the soundtrack.
this was a short film that we decided to make at around 11pm on a saturday night. we made up a story on the go, called up some friends, and after about three hours of filming this is what we got. these are some friends, not actors. finding well lit locations was a challenge. audio was troublesome in post production. all in all it was a good test experience. looking forward to making more short films.

I like the idea of the story. Good job for pulling it together over the course of a night! I'm still experimenting with sound, did you have the H4n mounted to the camera or elsewhere?

thanx michelle. I consider this a rough and [not so good] test run. I feel happy with my part as far as cinematography, editing, sound and all that. But the story and acting, wernt the best. Next one will be better. Which is why I appreciate your comment all the more. perhaps Im being a bit too tough on myself.

H4n was being handheld by someone near the actors.

very nice short movie. I like story and some scenes are pretty good but some looks less good. Actors were good but camera sould be more stabilized. Let´s continue

Great work! Considering you came up with the story late at night, shot the same night, used only a 50 1.8...I think you killed it.

thanks alot Dan, very glad to hear you liked it. I wanna make more!

MAn!!! Let's collaborate! I like your pacing on here! I just copped a T2i and testing it...had to sell the old hv20 though!
  • JON ZOMBIE plus 1 year ago
Haha I love my 550D, but I still got my HV20 stored in my room. Come to think of it, maybe I should sell it. Then again, its hard. I never know when I might need a good old fashioned miniDV camera.

    You're a very good director !!
  • JON ZOMBIE plus 1 year ago
Actually, on this shoot I had the luxory of only filming. My friend Justin was directing. I liked the oppurtunity of soley working with the camera and not having to explain soo much to the on camera talent. Thanks for watching.

Man that's video is clean! Especially with the lighting conditions. Great job. Did you do anything to remove noise?
  • JON ZOMBIE plus 1 year ago
thanks dre! Nothing outta the ordinary, just some color grading.

You ever consider investing in a steadicam system? It would increase your production value in videos like this. Thanks.

I got a little question... There is about no grain in your images (At night, when there is almost no lights...) Was your ISO set to 100? or did you do something special?
  • William Côté 4 months ago
Cuz when i'm at 100 ISO, for less grain, i can't see nothing (Image is very very dark) and even lights don't affect that much compared to your video. :o
  • JON ZOMBIE plus 1 month ago
bump it up to 800 or even 1600. perhaps use a denoiser later.

    Thanks! :)
