Reinvention stories don’t start from scratch. Each new beginning for you or your organization is one of many in a much bigger story.
The best reinvention stories grow from deep roots that preserve the integrity of the larger story; the things that don’t change like core truths and values. In the physical world reinvention requires an inventory of the quantity and quality of available resources. A reinvention story taps into existing resources (passion, values, experiences) as well as resolves lingering negative stories (mistrust, failure, false starts). Bringing closure to the previous story should be fun and done within a time limit. In this session, we'll discuss a few strategies to support the process including: 1) Line a wall with photos along a timeline. 2) List significant events – get a story from someone who was there 3) Compose and deliver a eulogy to the past. 4.) For a personal reinvention, write an autobiography in narrative and investigate the theme. Don’t leave your mountain to chase someone else’s story. Reinvent by discovering your roots.
