Fluid Dress
This is a video of the fluid dress I made. It's 600 ft. of knitted tubing powered by a pump located in the backpack.

I LOVE THE VIDEO
It's just dyed water and air. The patterns are partially controlled by the onboard valves, and partially random.
Bioluminescent fluid might be an option too.
Also, I *really* enjoy your OF work. I really want to get into that more.
So the fluid isn't really able to propel forward – like trapping liquid in a straw by holding your finger over the top.
I should probably do this effect on purpose in the future...
Exactly what I thought.
The dress weighs about 5 lbs dry, 8 lbs wet. I'm told it's relatively comfortable. The current backpack is pretty brutal, although most of the functionality could be translated to a light, purse-sized pneumatic power unit.
Thanks! It's all displayed in real-time without any post-processing, except for the intro and outro sequences which are mostly sped up.
I would have liked more hand-held shots (to avoid the time-lapsey look) but I was operating a dress/light control with every appendage during filming.
If no one is wearing it, then anyone can wear it...you know?
I think this is a fantastic creation.
It is an item of beauty and that could be very useful and profitable for you.
I can see (4) Four very useful things for it, two quite easy the other two would take a lot of thought but not insurmountable. The first two would be the easier due to power availability the last two would be the harder ones.
1) For use in Hospitals and ambulances as an emergency body heater in the wintertime.
2) For use in Hospitals Ambulances Doctors offices and most public areas where they have automatic defibrillators to bring down body temperature fast on persons suffering heat Stroke.
3) Use as a personal summer cooling unit, run the fluid through a small ice chest/container with DRY ICE in it. For maximum efficiency and lightness. Could be done with ice but would be much heavier for same duration and overall effect. You would have to use antifreeze and SPLIT the flow to keep it from getting too cold but in HOT climates would love it.
4) If you could find a way to HEAT the fluid you could make a personal heating unit for use in COLD climates and persons that live in Cold would love it.
I would love it both ways as in my part of Arizona it goes from 110°F summer to -15°F winter.
Next gen is one that responds to ambient music beat....or the heartbeat of the wearer ??
Also I think that would be great to see that dress on a real girl :)
Absolutely AMAZING! speechless...
^.^
What was this shot on and did you use any colour correction?
Now you really should find a real girl to wear the dress to see it moving around !
Gets my mind spinning about many other things that can be done to create animated clothing. Very cool.
Art is more than something that is just nice to look at; it captures the imagination and opens the mind to other possibilities.
You have created art!
I think just perfect.

Now do a video with Jessica Alba wearing it (!)
i participate in our local wearable art show in alaska
(proceeds go to art scholarships for nonprofit--there's no $$ involved if ya win, just for fun...I've been doing it for 10 years--ususally recycled materials,etc)--
i was wondering if you minded me borrowing the concept and trying to make my own for this years show? i think it would rock!! thanks!!
