1. Matthew Bennett - Designer/Cinematographer Reel Fall 08
3 years ago
Recent camera and motion graphics work. Toronto, Canada based.
For the intro sequence I took the top off a VCR and macro-shot the tape spooling, ejecting, etc.
I mostly shoot with an Andromeda modified DVX100A, EX1, RED, and Canon XTI for time-work.

Incredible! Can i ask how you got those subtle blue light leaks/lens flare things at the beginning? Great work
  •
  • Matthew Bennett 3 years ago
the blue flares are from an anamorphic lens adapter, light reflecting off the elements makes a nice blue streak!
  • Andrew Clunie 3 years ago
Yes i was going to ask if you were using somesort of anamorphic lens. Where did you purchase the anamorphic lens adapter. Can you give me a link, cause all this time, i have been recreating it in post and would love one. I am assuming they are expensive :)

  • Matthew Bennett 3 years ago
go to b and h photo's website and search for the anamorphic adapter for the dvx100

Very good, I liked the last reel you had posted on your site a little more though. Obviously this is more encompassing, but both have style! Keep it up!

    Thanks all!
I tried to do this reel with almost no music, just voices and ambient/foley sounds as an audio track. Break 'the mold' a wee bit, see what happened.

    Awesome mate!

I'm going to be trying to shoot my 3rd year film with a nikon d90 with various manual lenses. budget is £1500 and its all set a motoway service station. running time approx 10mins.

Any advice or tips for me would be greatly appreciated.

So one could use the AG-LA7200 on let's say a Canon 5D2 with USM prime package (58mm front threads upped to 72mm)
With that, one would get a sub 2000 lens package with sub f2 (28, 50, 85 USM) Might that be feasible?

BTW Matthew do you care to test out one of the LCDVFs for MKII we have been working on?
  •
  • Matthew Bennett 2 years ago
The AG-LA7200 has these really deeply buried threads - you would need some sort of filter or stepping ring with REALLY deep threads to get it to work...

    Your LCD Viewfinders? Please explain..
I'm always game for tests of course....
  • LCDVF plus 2 years ago
As per lcdvf.com /photos/prod/ or as per this thread on Cinema5D.com cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2675

Only downside of our design is that the operator/user must provide her/his own dioptre correction via contact lenses or small to medium sized prescription spectacles. The design that went into production proportionally looks like this lcdvf.com/photos/prod/IMG_8650.jpg when compared to f4 70-200 L...
