First day with my canon hf11. Not completely satisfied by the wide angle lens (add-on). It shows borders when it is at its widest. But its still very wide with a little zoom. Its also blurry when zoomed in (as you can see when the video starts)

The camera it self is great. Battery life is a bit disappointing.
Anyway ... The movie shows a few things I've seen in NYC.
The room and lobby is from hotel The Marcel

Next ... San Francisco.

oh no! is that the BUILT IN LENS?!?! Now I'm afraid to get one! The sensor quality looks pretty good, though. Can you try some more stuff in low light?

What setting did you shoot this with; highest MXP or FXP, etc.?

    Is this a Japanese model?

Was this shot in 60i, 24p or 30p? Looks like one of the progressive modes.

Not happy with the interior footage. Looked like a lot of grain/noise.

    actually shot in 60i.
The interior was a very dark room... so indeed a lot of noise...

Thanks a lot for one of the first HF11 videos! I'm trying to determine whether Canon tweaked the Auto W/B on the HF11 to be more like the HV30 (instead of the HF10). From what I can see the reddish cast appears to be back so looks like it (most will prefer this). The HF10/HF100 has a red+blue cast (magenta but mostly looks bluish).

Regarding low-light I recommend these settings:
    - 30p
    - Cinemode (or spotlight with no gain and bit darker and higher contrast)

    Example: vimeo.com/942017

Also for wide-angle lens you cannot use any wide-angle lens on any HD cam. Definitely needs to match the camcorder built-in lens to get best results. WD-H37C is ok at full wide-angle (but bit softness/CA at full zoom).

PS for better battery life get the BP-819. It has double the capacity (and sticks slightly out but not much, image is in my HF100 review).

Hi Just got my HF11 a few days ago. I bought a Sony .7 Wide angle lens for it. It works fine...no borders or blurring whatsoever...Also, I have had great results in low light with some tweaking. I will try and post some videos this weekend. (if anyone wants to see specific settings and or shots message me)
