I think I prefer the red pop in that the optimistic blue sky and green trees make it all seem so surreal. The film gives the popsicle a sort of wasted life. It did not get the chance to satisfy the tastes. I can almost hear sound and birds. My favorite part is when the pop becomes translucent near the very end.

    sound would definitely be nice.

Erm.. I don't make sound myself, it was shot on a still camera, so there was no environmental sound. Do you mean I should use music or sound illegally pirated from the interwebs for my own not for profit art projects?

... Actually, that's probably what I should have done, isn't it.

That's an awesome lens. I like the stop used as well.

Yeah, the lens rocks me out. I got it from a photo store in Vietnam for AU$30.

Agreed, the depth of field is what really sets this off. Well done!

Hmmm I've always wanted to try some time lapsed stuff. How do you do it? Do you just speed up the video?
  • Jaymis 1 year ago
That was shot with a digital SLR, still camera. I've got a little plug adapter which basically holds down the shutter release, so it fires off shots as fast as it can. Around 1 frame per 1.7 seconds.
Then put all the frames together with after effects at 25FPS.

That can't be good for your shutter.

I don't know really.. It's a professional camera the likes of which gets used for, like, professional photography. Pro photographers take loads more photos than I have, this is just taking a couple of hundred all in a row, rather than a couple of hundred spread over a couple of hours.

I hope it doesn't break, I really like this camera. That said, the good thing about SLRs is that if the back breaks, I can just buy a new one, all the lenses (which contain the awesomeness) will still work fine!

Great colors and stability. Could be so much worse if done sloppily.

  • Jaymis 1 year ago

  • chriskalani 1 year ago
    lol, that's funny.
  • Jaymis 1 year ago
No. What's funny is that Americans call Poppers "Juice Boxes". Pff.

    this seems sticky
  • Jaymis 1 year ago
Definitely. What you don't see out of the shot is the 500W lights either side of the popcicle, and the stand underneath getting splattered with sticky red stuff.

Sticky goodness. Was your face underneath it catching all the sugary flavor?

I love how at the beginning it starts to drip on one side, then both sides of the stick, then simply, a stream of red. Slurp.
