On April 20, BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 workers and commencing months of oil leaking unrestrained into the ocean. It is estimated that over 205 million gallons of oil were released into the Gulf. The well was successfully plugged and declared "effectively dead" on September 19 but relief efforts are far from over.
In June, we released the Gulf Coast relief tee, peliCAN. With your help we were able to raise $100,000.00 for the Gulf Restoration Network. Last Thursday, a few of us were able to head down to New Orleans for the presentation of the check and for a tour of some of the areas affected by the spill. In the near future we will be releasing a full video of what we saw. In the meantime you can check out this short teaser.
Even though the leak has been stopped. There's still a lot of work to be done to restore the Gulf. Please pass this around six plus months later to help remind the nation that the oil is still here, and the coast is still paying the price.
Thank you!
