A short film about New York architect Andrew Berman's dream project.
Commissioned to design a writing studio in the woods in Long Island, he took the challenge and created a building which seems to float in a sea of foliage.

The film, while informative conveys the tranquility of the building by simply inviting you to enter and experience the pace of the writer's world inside.

I never thought architecture could be so... Effective. Very inspiring on so many levels. The door in the woods, the all-wood interior, and the books without distraction.

I live in a space with a similar design. I find it difficult to work with a view. Its like a home cinema, an utter distraction. lol.

completely agree.. it's too tranquil, too pretty and too perfect in a way...I would find it slightly unnerving and distracting...

Love how the architect saw past a static space and created a space that visually changes (copper) just as the author will.

Really well produced. It gives a great sense of both the space and the mood. Really really well done.

Great design. Great production in the video. However the architect sounds incredibly self-important, which, for me, took away from my overall impression of the space.

    I want one!

  • It's a beautiful job, but with a empty meaning. If this library was a part of a huge comunity of people, who try to live in a different way, it would be outstanding. But its just a job for a very rich writter. It's empty.

Wow! Right now I'm looking out my study window into the green stuff in our backyard, the screen of my iMac blocking such reminders of everyday necessity as our garbage cans and recycling bins. This is like the apotheosis of what I've always sought but will never find in a place think and write. In all honesty, though, even had I such an ideal view, I would not have such an ideal space. While working, I surround myself with open books, journals, CDs, DVDs, etc. My laptop is rarely disconnected from the power grid. In short, I'm an undisciplined slob who doesn't deserve such a space or view. I salute both the architect and the lady who has earned the right to enjoy and profit from such an environment. I'm impressed both by architect and by client.

Awesome work. Sort of reminds me of the Fuji House.

The studio is gorgeous, sadly the video doesn't match the quality of the structure.
  • John Mahoney plus 2 months ago
I disagree, the video is better than the structure. The structure is crap.

A panoramic view would make it more engaging and compelling for the viewer. Architect voice in the backdrop, and more of the "architecture" would have been nice.
