An excerpt from a short video documentary created for the Italian American community of Salem, Massachusetts in 2003 when St Mary's Italian Church - the neighborhood church they founded, funded and built - was closed by the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. A grass-roots movement (Salem Community Arts Center - S.C.A.C.) is under way to buy the church back from its current owners and resurrect it as a community arts center. This would save the church's interior features and art, while allowing former parishioners, residents and visitors to once again access its community space.
