Paper would die ( disintegrate ) at that temp.. I would think .. I am interested to know this as well :)

    Artist's secret perhaps.

I take it back.. perhaps it is paper? Coated or something..
Anyways I think it's fantastic. I like the end result almost more than the fire video. very flowing.. very organic ( to a new level ). Great marriage of art and element ( and the ability to harness both )

The glowing material is molten glass. I gather really hot glass onto pipe and make drawings on paper. Paper that I use is extremely thick, almost like a slice of plywood, so surprisingly it doesn't get burnt so easily. You can see artworks created by that process on my website - etsukoichikawa.com.

Thank you for asking Dan and Twzt!

pretty good job! i was thinkin' about using this amazing technique to make titles in a movie... i love to use "real motion stuffs" to create new interesting way of "no-post-production" titles.. you know what i mean... anyway good work Etsuko...

Louisville has two glass galleries so I recognized the medium right away. Sad for me, it took some mystery away. Still, even knowing it was a beautiful piece. Very very good. Thank you for putting it up here.
