Is it just me or is everybody having problems with Vimeo??? It takes too much time to upload and download. Hope they can fix it soon. I have some nice IBC footage but if Vimeo doesnt work ... its no hot news anymore. But as soon as possible I will show you here some IBC impressions. What got my attentention on day3

LED LIGHT
I saw and got a really nice small ledlight from LitePanels.com the LP-MICRO (made in US) its a square lightweight dimmable light with 48 bright leds working for a small hour on 4 AA batteries. This is what I really like, it has a flashshoe camera mount and delivered with indoor filters and a diffusor sheet. Price 285 euro.

HD CONTENT
AT this exhibition there a lot of cable guys and they are all shouting for good HD CONTENT. The only problem they dont really want to pay for it. But if you like to earn some extra money. Get your HD stockshot footage and offer them to those sites with stock shot libraries like artbeats and pond5.

RESCUE TAPE
Always on location needed is TAPE. But in warm countries the gluestuff of gaffer tape has the disadvantage to melt. Well this RESCUE TAPE is awesome. It resists 260oC/500F, water proof, air tight, permanent seal by self-fusing! Useable for anything visit their website rescuetape.com.

Long chat with Vimeo guys, got several tips which we will explain on our courses but Vegas is working on some new tutorials including my wishlist for that.

SONY POLECAM
Funny this is the first time Sony is showing products invented or fisrt manufactured by others like the campole. Mount your Z1 on a long stick and film from a high angle, heavy but not impossible. The boompole with camera. Where have I seen that before? I like to do it without pain in my back with smaller cams. Google or YouTube for "Jancam"

The New generation Picturegrabbers.
Oh getting all my files into the laptop still takes time and editing and getting them on Vimeo (so slo these days) takes hours so cant manage befor 9am to do this all, so just here some new written updates. Talked to several people about the Nikon D90 revolution. It will be a major change in videocamera history. I always told everybody this would be going to happen some day and I think thats now. Nikon gives a big nose to all big camera brands and as videographer we can take advantage of that and pay far less for an intrument that takes pictures. It is like how the Red One idea was founded. The proofe of it all I have daily in my Hands. Sanyo can produce these 500 dollar HD camera's today based on photocamera technology. So Nikon with all knowledge has a big advantage and wont share a table with Sony or Panasonic. Nikon might be king in the multi purpose camera industry or picturegrabbers next year. Even Red One Scarlet get now a follow up. We think Red One is thinking of a new photocameratype.

Since opening IBC yesterday VEGAS 8C update is now on line. Some nice improvements and new higher bit version available but you probably need quicker PC for that! Thank you Sony Vegas! Tomorrow gonna chech if my Sanyo Xacti MPEG4 files work better now!?

Sony after Z1 and Z7 has a new Z5 now making it possible to work hybrid so work with tape and cards or sandwich harddisk peace on top of battery. Weight less as EX1. More than V1. Sensitivity slightly less than EX1 according to Sony spokesman.

All in all makes me and many with very difficult and confused what is the next step in upgrading our HD quality.

Normally I don't visit these tyring Press meetings anymore. A lot of talking (staff) heads at Thomson, these days reading the text from autoque (4 flatscreens) without being trained how to do that. Reading a text might be save but is boring and at the end in your pressinfo you get the same text! So it would be much nicer to train him in talking for public about his last day at the office or what he did in his weekend and than go public and just talk about some highlights! AutoQue they should forbid it. Mc Cain did it a lot better! But Obama could teach him how to do it better! All present worldwide journalists, writing and bringing this news in so many nice magazines. But years ago they were invited for a lunch or dinner these days no real extras not even a proper gift for them. Just round dinnertime everywhere an ordinary Dutch treat garnituurtje (bitterballen, kroket and patat).

First we went to the Arena for the Thomson/GrassValley/ press meeting, the high costs production HD quality was shown on a backlit screen in bright daylight with open stadium roof. News not new for us : Edius 5 is coming. More to see later at the show. After that to Nemo museum next to Central Station for the Harris press conference. Loads of journalists in a very hot room. After that Omneon presentation at Rembrandt square in overheated disco room... the name of this disco.. The Escape!? . Omneon covered network China Oympics, intresting to hear how that was done not with the real HDfootage but with making EDLs (editlists) in the US by an army editors on a low res copy. For me today nice to meet some old relatives. Talking to them I heard the latest interesting facts for us Videographers see daily breaking news.
