In the fall, thousands of swifts gather in NW Portland and fly into a school's chimney. It was quite the show! There is even a hawk that shows up and eats the swifts, but I didn't catch him.

Music: Blonde Redhead, but weirdified by messing around with the audio editing effects by me. I'm still learning what I can do in these programs.

    I believe it is just part of their migration. It's a big chimney and they like to hang out in it at night.

    Wow, that's so cool. Do you think/know if they make it all the way down into the school and fly about in it? I guess they must do - there were so many, surely they can't all fit in just the chimney!?

    They are pretty small birds! I wish I could see what was going on inside the chimney. They must be like bats.

    Update! I watched the swifts again last night, and at the end they couldn't all fit inside. They would fly in and then fly back out because there was no room!
