Okay :) first off, I flipping love that you're doing vlogs on Vimeo. That is very exciting.

I agree with what Amanda just said... this is going to be... something you'll never be able to put into words.

You know very well just how much your first trip effected you, how much it grabbed ahold of you and shifted your way of thinking... I can't even imagine what 16,000 miles is going to do to you :)

You'll be a humble and unstoppable monster ;)

Keep these coming man :) and if you need any website help, send some sketches my way, I'll do what I can. I've been throwing up a few sites the last couple weeks, I'm sure you've noticed :P I seem to be in a mood.

I'm gonna send to all of my Vimeo contacts right now.

It's gonna be nuts. It's so overwhelming to think about sometimes, but it keeps me going. It's my baby.

    Check out jolandierust.com/

She's doing a similar trip around Africa. She calls it
"Journey of a thousand faces," and is trying to be the first woman in history to circumnavigate the entire African continent by bicycle

I got an email from Mike Ambs saying if I didn't show some love he was going to delete me from his contact list lol. All kidding aside, Larry nice to see you aboard the VIMEO train. From the Behind the Scenes episodes I learned to appreciate what you were doing. And its nice to know that you are still continuing in that spirit.

Hope your journey goes very well and that you find many sponsors to raise funds for the benevolent scholarship - no better way you could keep the memory of your friend alive. Take great care along the way - look forward to following your vlog.

Man! I've been thinking of this route for the past 3 years. I was just going to ride from home (Santa Cruz, Ca) to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. The riskiest part are all the countries after Panama to Chile (I used to live there that place is as safe as can be for ya). What type of bikes are you taking? Have you taken into account population dead spots? What have you gone through for visas? How are you coming up with the route? I have so many questions that Im sure you don't have time for. That ride is a dream of mine and I'm so happy somebodies getting to live it. Take care and best wishes man. Peace
  • Larry McKurtis 1 year ago
    Whoa.
Well. We're building our bikes from the Reno Bike Project, so almost all the parts will be second hand and recycled.
They'll be sort of freakish, and possibly not categorizable. And they'll look worse than polished turds probably to boot.
Population dead spots, check. Jay and I have grown up being rather self reliant and comfortable in the middle of nowhere.
I haven't even looked into Visas yet. I think I'm just gonna use my American Express;)
The route is going to be very very flexible, as in I'm buying a bunch of maps and we're gonna pick our way through as we go, going off local advise, the maps, and intuition.
And sorry it took me 11 days to respond!
    Ask away man, ask away.
