Will we see more of Pierce? Find out more about this case haunting him? Find out more about the things he has had to do? Is this a teaser to a larger project? Please say yes.. *grins hopefully*
  • David Holicek plus 1 year ago
This was just a short project, and as Pierce says, he is resigning from the force. I'm glad you liked it though! :-)

What was this edited in? And what lens did you use?
  • David Holicek plus 7 months ago
Editing was done with Adobe Premiere, and post production with Adobe After Effects using Magic Bullet Looks. We used the Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens. Thanks for your question DeShon!
  • DeShon Dixon 7 months ago
No problem! What were your export settings?
  • David Holicek plus 7 months ago
I used the H.264 format with the Vimeo HD preset (target bitrate of 14 Mbps). I also had the "Use Maximum Render Quality" setting turned on.
  • DeShon Dixon 7 months ago
Was your maximum bitrate the same?and what was you vbr encoding set to? vbr 1-pass or 2-pass?
  • David Holicek plus 7 months ago
I'll send you a PM, so we don't end up with a huge thread here. Cheers.

Excellent work! Love the mood. I really like the transition into Black and White from the color shorts outside. It first well with the Noir style of the story. Love the simplicity of capturing a moment in a life like this through the visuals and the narration of the letter. And sweet end credits! Keep up the great work! Are submitting to festivals?
  • David Holicek plus 7 months ago
Thanks a lot for your feedback Mikel! Much appreciated. We won the short film competition at our university, but I haven't thought of submitting to festivals, primarily due to the length. Though as you mentioned in your "Stop" behind-the-scenes, it's the shorter films that have a better chance of making it into the festivals, so I will keep that in mind.
  • Mikel J. Wisler plus 7 months ago
Seriously, some of the best films I've seen at festivals are 5 mins and under. I totally think you should submit this to some festivals, especially festivals focused on shorts like Dam Short Film Festival just out side of Vegas. I've had two films there and attended once, it was a really great festival!
