Wanted to see how the good 'ol Nikon D90 performed in super dark conditions with a bright light source. I am loving the look of this camera. Slight CC to add some darks and lights.

Hawk 1 year agohey great video. what lens were you using? -
Jason Zada 1 year agounfortunately the stock lens, which actually does pretty good at night. better than I thought. it's horrible in low light situations, so I am going to pick up a 50mm 1.4. I really wanted to test the smoke and detail shooting shooting with a strong light source in pitch black. -

1 year ago hey Jason, the 50mm f/1.4 is bad@ss on the D90, the problem is keeping the subject in focus wide open is so difficult....it was much easier on my 50mm f/1.8 than it is my new 50mm f/1.4, it seems that even slight movements throw the focus out, its tough because normally I am recording my little 2 year old girl so who never sits still, but I got better at it this weekend when I went to apple hill I probably spent about 2 hours doing clips of her and learning to rack focus that f.1.4....at first I thought it was impossible but once you get it down its actually a nice challenge to try and keep the focus while keeping the camera steady...I will post some of the vids later....
