32. "FIFI" First Flight with New Engines
"FIFI" and her crew embark on the first of a series of test flights that test the improvements and new engines. Tensions are high as she takes the runway and lifts off for the first time in years. Come see "FIFI" and her new engines at air shows around the country by checking our website cafb29b24.org

We are even offering rides available for various seats in the aircraft including the bombardiers seat in the nose. Come ride "FIFI"

This is very nice to see that this airplane is finally back in the air. I would like to see FIFI at the 2011 Thunder over Michigan air show at Willow Run airport mid July. Thanks.

This video had me weeping tears of joy! "Fifi" is back where she belongs; in the air! Mad propps to the people who brought "Fifi" back to life; everything that I could see looked to be factory-fresh.

My dad was a pilot of this aircraft. He showed me it's photo and thought that there were none left. He's gone but is great that Fifi is here for the next generation to understand the price of war and how many lives were risked and lost to keep us free.

Hello. I am a WWII Vet, South Pacific Campaign. Two battle stars. Kwajalene, & Tinnian. Chief Boatswain Mate. 107 CB Battaion, Co,B. Ser # 8525300. Us CB,s built 5 runways on Tinnian. 8500 ft long, in just 15 weeks. I saw all the airplane activitie from this island during WWII. I have witnessed many, many B-29's blow up, crash land etc etc. I am 93 years of age. I kept a War Diary while serving my country. The federal Govt has a copy of this war diary. I was a guest passenger on a B-29, which flew cover over the Battleship Missourie, during the signing of surreder, accepted by, Douglas McArthur. I wish I could correspond with any one, or group about this great Pacific Airbase, and the gallent Air Warriors. I Love America. Ken. Scalf

Thank you for everything you did for our country during your service. I am a Vietnam vet myself and have huge respect for all of our WW2 vets. "Greatest Generation" is fitting to describe you, my dad & uncles, all who put it on the line in WW2 along with the wives & mothers that kept it going on the homefront.

Great quality video and fun to view. However it was just to short. I mean, eight to twelve more minutes could have easily been added to the length, especially air and flying shots, since the videographer probably had over an hour of total time recorded.

I saw FiFi quite some years ago at North Philadelphia Airport when she was touring (before problems that grounded her). I am so pleased she's back, and I hope to see her again. I took several photos of her in film (pre-digital), so yes, it was a long time ago. Seeing her fly in this video brought a tear to my eye. It's simply outstanding she's back.

    Great job! So shiny :p

Older mechanics and technicians are awesome: they know their stuff, bagloads of experience and this natural way of getting this done.

Awesome to see her up in the air again. I restore WWII Army Jeeps and I can only imagine the amount of hours, money, blood, sweat, and tears that must have gone into her restoration. I look forward to seeing her in person at Ft. Worth. I congratulate everyone who worked on her .
    Best regards,
    Brian

  • My Dad, Gordon Teach, was also a Pilot of a B-29 flying out of India over "the Hump"(Himalayas) and into Tokyo. Dad has passed now, but I felt him soaring into the air with FiFi this morning as I watched this video and cried my eyes out with tears of joy and remembrance. Thank you to all involved in this noble enterprise. Michael Teach
