Professor Radsan will address various aspects of cross-cultural communication that lawyers working with clients, co-counsel, or opposing counsel from cultures other than their own need to be cognizant of, and will provide specific guidance on what to do and what to avoid. From gestures and other forms of non-verbal communication to etiquette at meals, from when to use humor and when to be more formal, the presentation will raise awareness of communication styles and habits that most attorneys don’t give much thought to. By the end of the session, participants should be more familiar with the potential pitfalls inherent in cross-cultural communication, able to apply a critical eye to their own assumptions and own communication style, and know where to turn for additional resources.
