This is located on the Owen-Spalding route on the way to the top of the Grand Teton. Take the second entrance to the Double Chimney unless you want to experience the thrill of the first entrance. This Chimney is VERY short and doesn't require too much effort to blaze through it. The top part where you exit is probably the hardest part when the rest is not iced up. Once out of the Double Chimney, the Owen Chimney is right in front of you. To the climber's right is the Catwalk. Many people climb 10-15 feet up the Owen Chimney and then exit onto the Catwalk ledge. There are at least 3 very old pitons in the eastern wall along the Catwalk. Two in the Owen Chimney as of 2010. They still feel secure but should not be used for serious fall protection. Sometimes it's good to check out the conditions of the Catwalk beforehand in case you wish to free climb down the catwalk and avoid the Owen Chimney which may be occupied due to the high traffic levels during the summer. Enjoy.
