Good question...I assume you're referring to the scene in Interregnum. I'm not a fan of violence, especially gratuitous violence; but sometimes, if well-used, it can make a strong (and sometimes uncomfortable) statement. If you haven't seen Interregnum, please do, it's here on Vimeo as well..and I think it clears up why that specific moment is necessary.
