Protecting Families with Young Children: Trauma Awareness Seminar for reporters, editors, producers, general managers, journalists and publishers.
Presented August 24, 2010, by The Children's Center and in partnership with Primary Children's Medical Center, the goal of this seminar was to add value to the important work done by the media by sharing the latest statistics and data on the effects of trauma, local trauma resources, and how journalists can play a critical role in mitgating the impact of traumatic events.
The Children's Center is a nonprofit agency that, since 1962, has been treating families with children birth to eight who are experiencing mild to severe emotional and behavioral problems. In 2009, The Children's Center became a member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, whose mission is to improve quality, effectiveness and availability of services for children and families who experience traumatic events.
