It had me seriously laughing through most of it, the name waxenpoo and everything associated with him, the voice, the pose, the animation, the kicking legs on the bed, was perfect.

For the originality of the idea, I think the ending is too real/obvious.

I know it changes tone dramaticaly in a strange way. While not a total deal breaker for me after several viewings it will be nice to see a trimmer version. This was a rushed first edit but Tom will be editing a new 3 min version soon.

yeah, great vid, great idea, terrible ending
  • Reggie Watts plus 3 years ago
I wouldn't say it’s a terrible ending. I would call it odd or askew or maybe a complete abandonment of its original trajectory. I find it dark. We'll see what another pass creates.
  • wreckandsalvage plus 3 years ago
I look forward to seeing another pass. There was moment in there, after I had been laughing a ton, where I think getting out would be huge. A 3 minute version is a good idea.

Reggie & Tommy, I still have the whole thing on my computer, so whenever you want to edit it, you can. No rush, I have plenty of space on there.

Fantastic! Agreed that it needs the killer punch line at the end. feels like it jumps ship rather than ends.

Question: Why is he fired (only because it's waxenpoo on the other end)?

Kind of wanted the assistant to move his lips like a ventrilliquist or something... or somehow be shown to be complicit with waxenpoo.

or maybe the boss has some kind of torretic split personality and when he picks up the phone he says to himself: You ho hello waxenpoo.

and then fires the assistant anyway.

So it's really the boss who is tomenting the assistent (s?) and the animation is a P.O.V. of the boss' mind.

    anyways, fantastically odd.

to reply to "skeltz", I just wanted to comment on the language you used to respond to the piece. I guess I just think that using the word "terrible" is somehow uncharacteristic of users of Vimeo. This seems to be a community built on good will and support; anything we post is not really meant for scrutiny. If this was YouTube, I'd say use all the abstract criticism you want. But here, it seems more appopriate to question. Why did you think it was "terrible"? What is your criteria? What would you prefer to see? It's okay to have opinions, but I'd much prefer to start a dialogue, and not "evaluate" the worth of clips, mine or anyone else's.

I think there are a few really good suggestions, that it's either the boss tormenting the assistant, or vice versa, or that waxenpoo is a figment of the bosses imagination, everyone on the phone is waxenpoo. I don't know. This is seriously funny though, the ending just needs tweeked a bit.

yes exactly.... it's destined for greatness.

Reggie and I created this piece together -- it is posted on my profile as well. In the future, we're going to post our collective efforts to "DumbFilms", which already has a few films on it.

It would be interesting if there was no real Waxenpoo, and it's all in the bosses imagination. So the calls would really be from who the assistant said they were ;)

My favorite part is that he only calls him "Senor Waxenpoo" once. For some reason that subtle hint at his sort of history with Waxenpoo is really funny to me. This is phenomenal.

Um. Is there a reason most of the dialogue goes into my ear on the left side?

So I was watching this again today, and I realized that Chris Ferry as "The Boss" reminds me very much of Mark McKinney in his "Kids in the Hall" days.
