Poor video from inside an installation I created at Cranbrook. The video is 3 1-minute clips from the start, middle, and end of the 45 minute loop.

Really cool! I actually think I would prefer it if you couldn't see the spinning background through the window, so it would be harder to figure out what was going on. If you cover it up with your fingers it looks like a really twisted animation, they move so weirdly and fast!

Aha, I just clicked on the link and I see what this is about now. Nice! Still reckon that idea would look cool though...

I do agree with your assessment of the rotational element in the window. Next time I hope to mess around with a few shifting planes of rotation or scale so that it becomes more complex.

It's for an installation I did as part of my MFA studies. There's a link in the description.

Beautiful installation. You had to hand crank it for 45 minutes? Did you ever think of motorizing it? Or was there a reason it should be hand cranked?

For the video, I did hand crank it for 45 minutes. I had planned on motorizing it, but the motor I had wasn't powerful enough and I just ran out of money. The whole things a prototype anyway and with some further funds I will either make it a motorized installation or allow people to crank it themselves and see the results. Maybe both.

I thought that when it faded, a different video (of the room being rotated the other way) might be playing in reverse, so that we could see everything assemble back in to place at the end. I like it though.

Argh! This clip keeps getting flagged for no apparent reason!

    Maybe it's *that* boring...

I wanted to see further clips as the furniture is gradually broken to pieces and worn into gravel, but maybe that would have taken too long!

funny that it's hand cranked - did you think of installing a motor? I'd love to hide the motor and then play around with the apparent cause of rotation. hamster wheel? windmill? hot air from some guy yelling?

That's the most active poltergeist I've ever seen!

Oh, woah - this is nuts. It'd be cool if you dubbed in heavier crash noises so that it sounded like real furniture smashing around.
    Really awesome concept though.
