1. The Sound of Wood
From sapling to violin. How wood is crafted into emotion generating music. A film with no language barrier. Selected for the Slamdance Film Festival 2009.

That is wonderful and very clever. Great use of natural sound but it's a pity you got a bit of camera motor noise in some of the shots.

Overall, great film. I felt the beginning (the shots of the trees/woods) was a bit rushed. everything that followed was excellent. good work.

I felt the same thing after reaching the end - it seems his pacing changed quite a bit.

Still, an outstanding visual narrative. :)

    Cheers!

Hm I beg to differ... Although I loved the wood shots, I don't think they should have lasted much longer... Loved all of it! I felt spoiled visually after watching this.

Art is nothing without an audience – and you have been a great audience. I gave up answering individually when a tsunami of plays overtook me; so here is a global thanks. It was just what I need to get over my filmmakers’ block and start the next one.

NAILED IT! not the wood, rather the short. compressing something that takes epically long to achieve into something watchable. Love the way you used audio contrasts, chainsaw--birds, saw/lath--geometric stacks--scraping. Like of the week, for Oct 6.

So that's where they come from! Great film. Well made. Beautiful music. I like the way we're taken on a wordless narrative journey. It evokes the atmosphere and the environment along the way really well.

I love it. I hope you win! (part of me feels bad for the trees.)

The trees were 400 years old and I felt so bad I made them stop after the third one! However the Forester told me there are too many and if they did not cut them they would just fall and be of no use. So then I felt a bit better.
