This music video is an abstract journey in our everyday surroundings, illustrating moments of life in a continuous way.
A trip into 4500 still photographs, a travel where urban landscapes meet pastoral scenes to create a whirlpool around the theme of the video: the subjective point of view and urban life.

This video was created with a stop motion technique, it was conceived with a very simple Nikon Coolpix E4600. There is no video in it, but not less than 4500 still photos taken in the streets of Nancy and Epinal (France).

Cool video, though the music was what made it for me.

Does "video music" mean you made the music for the video and not the other way round?
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
    No, sorry.

I made the video for the music. James P. Honey and Roma just asked me... The music was already created. But according to me this video is nothing without this music...

Just like animation this is more hard than to just put the frames togheter from a video , very nice work man

p.s. Have u thoughabout extending the pics 2-3-4 frames , it will look smooter imo
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
    Thanks so much...

Yeah, I tried but I was not satisfied with the result, I made a second video with the exact same technique (Night Black Crow), but I'm thinking about changing some stuffs for a new project, why not retry changing the frames... Thanks for the idea... I'll keep you informed !

I've been scripting out a video with a similar concept, but it's with video, involves teenagers, and I think you should check it out. I'll have it up in about a month.

  • Goldenboi24k 3 years ago
No Offensive, but I think its totally bullshit that you used a 'Nikon Coolpix E4600" lol. The quality here is too good.
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
Ahahah ! some people also don't believe me when I tell them that there is no video, but just photographs !

But I assure you it's true ! That was the horror to shoot some scenes !
I remember going outside shooting pictures taking 6 batteries in my hand. After shooting 70 photos I also had to freeze and wait 2 minutes while the camera was loading all the pictures...

    True old school homemade !

very good job, how long did this take to make (excluding taking the photos)
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
When I did this I was not in the business... still in school (not a movie school, but english studies)... So, excluding the shooting sessions, let's say perhaps 2 month, or 3, 2 hours more or less per day...

Really glad so much people on here like this !

    Thanks

a Nikon Coolpix E4600 photo camera.
  •
  • MB 3 years ago
thats nice. i didnt know pns camera can make a good video.

and how did you edit 02:15 to 02:25 where the buildings appear and fade away from the screen like a paper. what do u call that effect?
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
All the effects were made photo by photo on Photoshop, so just put 2 images, one with a building, and slowly do 25 photos like that where the building is sliding... Hope you see.

I still believe this was shoot with a DSLR**
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
I still don't understand why people like you don't believe me ! What's the point in lying on the technique ?
  • Goldenboi24k 3 years ago
Because some of the scenes that where shot couldn't be possible without the use of a DSLR. Like the scene of the train passing by, you captured the whole train carts, which would be impossible to do with a point & shoot camera, due to the slow frames per sec rate, the slow shutter, and the fact that point and shoot camera don't have a memory buffer, so all the pics have to be written straight to the card, which takes about 2-5 secs. Dont get me wrong, its an awesome video, its just hard to believe this was not made with a DSLR.
  • DaBrainkilla 3 years ago
I really don't know how to prove it ? I made this with a 60 euros coolpix...
Just take a look at my deviantart... I uploaded one pic of the train sequence...

    Here :

    dabrainkilla.deviantart.com/art/Train-Rushing-on-wet-ground-58197105

    You see the charateristics ?

    Make: NIKON
    Model: E4600
    Shutter Speed: 10/13 second
    F Number: F/2.9
    Focal Length: 6 mm
    ISO Speed: 200

    You see, it's true ! :)

This is going to be some kind of "outing":
I hate art. In every way. For me it is something useless which is done by people who got too much feelings and nothing else to do. But after watching this video, a whole new world opened to me. So better put these sentences in the past ;) It's just fascinating watching something, still useless, and be stunnend afterwarts without knowing why. Great video, your other works too. Thanks vimeo and all you Artists out there for introducing me in this world, even if it still has (in my very rational world) no special use..
    Great vid!
