1. Wind & Water - the Invention of Windsurfing (2007)

Acclaimed documentary exploring the invention and history of windsurfing, and also the evolution of the lifestyle of the windsurfer.

Unique material on the pioneers of windsurfing including interviews with Robby Naish, Diane & Hoyle Schwitzer, Larry Stanley, Mike Waltz, Woody Brown, Drew Campion, S. Newman Darby, Alan Parducci, Jim Drake, Mike Horgan, Arnaud de Rosnay, Fred Haywood.

Demo reel for a longer length project about the history of windsurfing and the evolution of wind sports. A work in progress by director/producer Bill Weir. Also included supplemental memorial tribute to Bill Weir
(1963-2009) who was stricken with brain cancer and passed away during the production of this project.

    Great video. I love the history lesson. I started windsuring in 82 on a one design in Long Beach. Remember the big Windsurfer Sign off the 405? My buddies and I taught each other to windsurf. One of us got a Rocket 99 and then we all got shortboards and looked for wind, from seal Beach, Castaic to Lake Perris then we found Hurricane gulch and had to learn how to waterstart. After that it was Hood River, Rio vista to Baja and Spreckelsville. What a great time. Then I moved to SD. But who knows if I live long enough to retire I might get out on the water again.

    Superb material & realization. The '80's crashes are scary, while Robby's opening ride, blasting from wave to wave, is the essence of windsurfing freedom.
