This short film is made from 100% original footage: things I have shot over the 8 years I've spent on and off in New York City.
Last October, I was commissioned to speak at an Ayala Museum Grade School For Yuppies event by New Slang (new-slang.com/), the subject was Metrophilia: Love For Cities. I was contemplating what I was going to do for my presentation when my friend, Alice, asked me, "Are you making a short film?" I replied, "Why, yes!"
I spent an entire month digging through all the mini-DV tapes in my library, looking through hard drives, capturing footage and photos I deemed appropriate. As I was doing this, seeing old memories solidified in images, I wrote the script.
This is my love letter to all my friends in New York.
Because, in an alternate universe, New York would be my home base.
(p.s. This version is not the cut I screened at Ayala Museum. This is the final cut I screened at Mogwai in November.)
