I created this movie for the CASPAR sponsored TAG 2010 3-minute Film Festival. You can see it is 5-minutes long. I was very inspired by the mock-documentary Forgotten Silver and was interested to see what kind of effect the discovery of a long-lost film from the 1963 excavation of Çatalhöyük might get. I know nobody is going to be taken in by this film, but that is not really the point of mock-documentaries. It is rather to be able to think critically about the power of the moving image in archaeology and history and how we as audience respond to it as a reality of some kind. This film is actually the starting point of a paper on the topic that I will present at this same TAG2010 meeting in Bristol ion a few days time. I had to use more sub-titling than I had planned because my lost voice prevented crucial voiceovers - maybe a happy accident...
