Making your own granola is easy and saves a lot of cereal bags and boxes. In this episode of Health Nuts we make a basic granola recipe using just a few bowls and an oven. Buying the ingredients in bulk makes this a very cost effective alternative to packaged granola.
Recipe ( Substitute Nuts According to Preference)
Yields 8 Cups
5 Cups of Rolled Oats
2 Cups of Oat Bran
1 Cup of Pumpkin Seeds
1 Cup of Shredded Coconut
1/2 Cup of Sunflower Seeds
1 Cup of Almonds
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 Cup of Olive Oil
1/3 Cup of Honey
1 Cup of Apple Sauce (save money by blending apples)
1 Cup of Dried Fruit (we used raisins)
(note: we used a very old oven which allowed us to only cook one small sheet at a time. You should be able to cook the entire batch at once using two larger cookie sheets)
