Last Game at Yankee Stadium, the Line for the Field
1 year ago
The last game at Yankee Stadium opened it's gates at 1pm for the 8:30 game. Fans hoping to get on the field lined up one after another. This was the scene at 4pm when the line extended all the way from the field, up the switchback staircases to the top level, all the way across the top level and down the other side.
I walked the line with my camera, only stopping once to chat up someone I knew. It was massive. None of these people stood a chance and yet were willing to wait hours in line for, at most, a chance to pop into Monument Park before the game. Fans that arrived at the stadium at 1:30pm never made it to even set foot on the hollowed grounds and I've never seen something so mismanaged.
Even though I found the end of the line, I promptly left to find my seat.
