Henry, absolutely stunning compositions! Some of the best timelapse I've seen on Vimeo. Do you mind me asking what camera you're using and what motion control rig?

Your first three shots of the sunrise are brilliant. (not to mention all of the night shots)

Beautiful combination of artistry and technique, Henry. There's something about your videos that makes me stop and watch, and bears up to multiple viewings. You've got a great eye. Really like some of the tasteful dolly moves you've incorporated into your work as well. You're on my radar now! Looking forward to you sharing your next experience...

Very nice sir. What are you lighting with?
  • Henry Jun Wah Lee plus 1 year ago
Thanks Dustin. I'm using petzl headlamps with diffuser and the core battery where you can regulate brightness

I going to reprocess the night shots using your method in after effects and see how it looks. Thanks for the tip.
  • Dustin Farrell plus 1 year ago
    Headlamps huh? Cool.

The biggest benefit of stacking is that you can shoot at a lower ISO. If you have already shot at at high ISO you will see little benefit.

My co-worker writes, "While that was cool, I’m a little skeptical about whether it was real or not, because there didn’t seem to be a lot of shadow movement when the camera changed position, and none of the branches seemed to move as well. It looked like it was produced using “Ray Dream Studio” with the animation filters."

Was any software used to create this effect?
  • Henry Jun Wah Lee plus 2 months ago
It's all real. In terms of lighting, scenes in Alabama Hills were lit using a stationary LED lamp. Hence no shifting in shadows as the camera was moving. In the Joshua tree scenes, some were lit with stationary LED and others were just natural moon light. Ones with the moon you do see shadows move as the moon was setting.
