This video was shot in a couple hours with my kids to try to test out Twixtor - a software for slowing down motion. We shot on a Canon 7D @ 60fps. The frame interpolation is based on distance vector which you'll notice is pushed further than the software can handle in some shots. Instead of cutting around it, I'm using it to demonstrate what Twixtor cannot do for those who are considering it.
The morphing occurs when distance between pixel shift is greater than the software can compensate for. It resorts to morphing between frames which could be just what you're looking for. It wasn't what we wanted though.
Ultimately the product is worth the investment (thanks for the gift Ma) but like any tool, it needs to be properly applied and its limitation should be taken into account prior to depending on it.
